100 mile time trial showing that training works

Training Mantra

winchcombe.net
Pain is temporary.  Pride lasts forever. All it takes is all you've got. Pain is inevitable.  Suffering is optional. What does not destroy me makes me stronger. Pain is only weakness leaving the body. The extra mile is the stretch of road that is never crowded. Victory favours neither the righteous nor the wicked. It favours the prepared. Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated. Tough times don't last. Tough people do. Just remember this: No one ever won the olive wreath with an impressive training diary. If you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat. Your training partner's name is pain. You start out trying to ignore him. Can't do it. You attempt to reason with him. No way. You try to strike a bargain. Hah. You plead. You say "Please stop, please go away. I promise never ever to do this again if you just leave me alone." But he won't. Pain only climbs off if you do. Then you're beaten. The five S's of sports training are: stamina, speed, strength, skill, and spirit; but the greatest of these is spirit. No rest is worth anything except the rest that is earned No matter how far it is uphill, it's certain to be shorter downhill “No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training… what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” – Socrates Right now, your competition is training To be number one, you have to train like you’re number two The pain you feel today is the strength you’ll feel tomorrow Physical fitness can neither be achieved by wishful thinking nor outright purchase Don’t stop until you are proud Tomorrow you will wish you had started today Work hard in silence.  Let your success be the noise Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. - Muhammad Ali Wake up with determination. Go to bed with satisfaction You did not wake up today to be mediocre 3 months from now, you will thank yourself You don’t get what you wish for.  You get what you work for Don’t buy upgrades, ride up grades – Eddy Merckx  I may not be the strongest, I may not be the fastest, but I’ll be damned if I’m not trying my hardest! Don't let your mind define your limits Have you ever pushed yourself to your limit? Then how do you know that you have one? Someone who is busier than you is training right now If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you Today I will do what other won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t A winner never quits and a quitter never wins I don’t stop when I am tired, I stop when I am done You may see me struggle, but you will never see me quit Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure Remember the guy who gave up? Neither does anyone else. Look in the mirror, that’s your competition There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.  What person are you? Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work. The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow. It’s not about being the best. It’s about being better than you were yesterday. Push yourself.  No one else is going to do it for you. I don’t chase dreams, I hunt goals. Embrace your fears, rather than run away from them Remember the guy who gave up? Neither does anyone else. Look in the mirror, that’s your competition There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you. Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.  What person are you? Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work. I don’t stop when I’m tired, I stop when I’m done When you’re riding, only the race in which you’re riding is important Age is no barrier. It’s a limitation you put on your mind. “I always felt that my greatest asset was not my physical ability, it was my mental ability.” “A trophy carries dust. Memories last forever.” “It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” “Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.” “I’ve learned that something constructive comes from every defeat.” “Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t live between your own two ears.” “Good is not good when better is expected.” “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.” “If you fail to prepare, you’re prepared to fail.” Yesterday was a hollow gesture unless you can consolidate on it today. “Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” “Win If You Can, Lose If You Must, But NEVER QUIT!” Yesterday was a hollow gesture unless you can consolidate on it today.
Not great but will while away the hours and very structured Be prepared for pain and head off slow - #IWBMATTKYT
